AUS vs PAK, 3rd Test: No Shaheen Afridi and Imam-ul-Haq in Pakistan’s final Test match vs Australia in Sydney Pakistan have made two significant changes to their playing XI for the third and final Test match against Australia in Sydney. Set to start on 3 January, this will be Pakistan’s final assignment in Australia.

The Shan Masood side have decided to not play star fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi and opener Imam-ul Haq for the final Test.

3rd Test: Australia Playing XI vs PAK

Right-arm off-spinner will replace Shaheen, while uncapped Saim Ayub has been handed his Test debut. 21-year-old Ayub has already debut for Pakistan in T20I cricket and has 123 runs from 8 matches. He is yet to score a half-century for Pakistan. Sajid Khan on the other hand was not named in the original squad but was flown out due to multiple injuries in the Pakistan side.

Pakistan lost two of their frontline spinners in the series – Abrar Ahmed and Nomam Ali – due to respective injuries.

While Pakistan have not confirmed the reason for the two players getting benched. Imam has scored one half-century in the ongoing Test series, which came in the first innings in Perth. Shaheen on the other hand had a miserable start to the series, but bowled well in the Boxing Day Test match where he picked 6 wickets across two innings.
